Catching up Part 2

Awhile
back Peter, from Australia, who use to blog here sent me the following
quote and this is the first chance I have had to post it.

Quote from: his recent article The Dismantling of Civilized Society

By David Michael Green

I remain haunted to this day by the words of John le Carre,
written on the eve of the Bush invasion of Iraq: "America has entered
one of its periods of historical madness, but this is the worst I can
remember: worse than McCarthyism, worse than the Bay of Pigs and in the
long term potentially more disastrous than the Vietnam War".

Sadly, I think he had everything right in
his assessment, save for the word "periods". That term implies a
temporariness to our condition that might at least make it somehow
barely tolerable.

But what if it only gets worse from here?

And let's be honest. Given the nature of the Republicans, the Democrats,
the media and the public in America today, how does it not?

David Michael Green is a professor of political science at Hofstra University in New York.

Jill is a member of the bird watching/bird counting clubs here in Fort Lauderdale--she sent me the following:

I went to the nest area at about 1:20 this afternoon and there was nobirdy to be seen on or around the nest.  I went to lunch and returned to the
nest area at about 3:15.  I saw one slacker (he/she just stood there for
an hour) on a branch of an Australian Pine tree east of the nest area.

I
was hoping that I would observe an adult bringing nest material, but no
such luck today.  At least I was able to get a decent pic of the bird.

I've been talking about www.restaurant.com recently because I like to eat out and this makes it a little more affordable
Yes there are some 'rules' like the 18% tip will automatically be put
on the check. Also you may have to spend up to $35 before you can take
the $25 off but even then with the tip, tax and $3 fee you may only be
spending $15-20 for dinner for two. Check it out and see what they are
offering in your area if you like to eat out.

They have had offers as low as 80 cents to a dollar for $25 certificates.
