I
an starting to get a little worried as our 'rainy season' has been
pretty dry. Of course that can change within 24 hours. We have been
breaking heat, and humidity, records for 2 months now and if I am not
mistaken we have had over 90 degrees temperatures every day since June 1
and if you factor in that humidity the 'feel like' temperature is over
100. In any case anything is better than a hurricane! When it does rain
our sidewalks get flooded very quickly.
I am an avid reader of Jane Fonda's blog at www.janefonda.com mainly because of all the 'behind the scenes' she talks about.
She
has just finished making a film in France, speaking her role in French,
and is now doing one in upper New York State playing a hippie. She has
been in the business for over 50 years, comes from a show business
family and, through marriages, is related to many other famous people.
She talks about them, her family, what goes into making pictures, all
her projects--and she has many at the age of 73 that younger women
wouldn't be able to keep up with--and no secrets about her current boyfriend. Her blogs are insightful and delightful. There is very little about, or dealing with, politics.
Mark
your calendar for August 18 when PBS will be broadcasting the hit
revival production currently on Broadway for over a year of "South
Pacific"--it's a classic, a winner.
With
the new 'rules'--no flower pots outside---I had to come up with a
solution. A couple of years ago I bought a door to use as a computer
table and then I used it to put the birdcages on and now I put it near
the window and have the 25 plants spread out over it. Being in an east
window the plants get plenty of light and are flourishing. Since I
don't have all my birds anymore this is another way of bringing nature
inside and I do love Mother Nature.
An interesting paragraph in our newspaper's editorial today that I truly believe and will quote it here:
"Parents
need to make their children understand that intolerant comments are not
cute or funny even if kids chuckle at some of the remarks"--sort of
sounds like some bloggers!
