My Book/reading Wish List!

For many years I had a HUGE book collection--mainly show biz biographies and gay themed fiction and nonfiction books. I, liteally, spent thousands of dollars on books, which could explain one of the reasons I went broke! :O)
2-3
years ago I sold whatever books I had on e-bay holding off selling my
Tennessee Williams collection until they were the last to go.

Up util a few months ago I was able to keep up with reading by going to the
library but that is a little more difficult now due to transportation
problems.

Every 6-7 weeks I get a mail order catalogue from insightoutbooks and I mentally check offr the books I would order if I had the money--ummmm, maybe i will win the lotto tonight and can order the books!

In any case, going through the catalogue today I checked off the following books:

1) ABOUT MY LIFE AND THE KEPT WOMAN by JOHN RECHY

He is an excellent writer who was not afraid to write about the
underbelly of gay life and had a big crossover hit with the classic
"City Of Night" and I have read all his books--got some high prices for
the ones I sold on e-bay.

2) CRISIS edited by Mitchell Gold
This is one I would send to AJ, after I read it--from the catalogue:
Gay
teenagers in America face a mental health crisis of staggering
proportions. They are 190% more likely to use drugs or alcohol and four
times as likely to committ suicide. For gay teens, discrimination, depression, bullying and
isolation are often par for the course--while the parents, teachers,
clergy and leaders they might look to for guidence and support are frequently part of the problem, not the solution.

3) NOT THE GIRL NEXT DOOR by CHARLOTTE CHANDLER

4) HOLLYWOOD CELEBRITY PLAYGROUND by HOWARD JOHNS

5) SHE ALWAYS KNEW HOW by CHARLOTTE CHANDLER

The
first is about Joan Crawford, the second about celebrity crimes and
the last about Mae West. I don't think I would learn anything new from
either of the books but they are subjects I am interested in! :O)

6) BORN TO BE HURT by SAM STAGGS

This is a look at behind the scenes of the Lana Turner film version of "Imitation Of Life"---I loved her and I loved the movie and I read his last book
ALL ABOUT ALL ABOUT EVE which really was interesting so I would expect
this one to be, too.

This is just the short list--I could add about 10 more! :O)
