• Questionable death. Keith Kimmel, who sued the
Oklahoma Tax
Commission to allow him to get a personalized license plate stating “IM
GAY” was
found dead Wednesday morning. What makes this a very interesting story
is that
on Monday of this week Kimmel filed a complaint against Tulsa police
regarding
his alleged abuse outside of a bar late last week that landed him in the
hospital but not arrested. The cause of his death has yet to be
determined. Hate
crime, anyone?

• I give a damn. After reading about my collegue Emma Ruby-Sachs’Anna Paquin coming out as bisexual I had to find the
video
admission. What did I find? The PSA in question comes from a new online
campaign
from my favorite straight ally, Cyndi Lauper and her
True Colors Fund. In the PSA from the We Give a
Damn website, posted below, a number of notable faces state
their
sexuality and why it is important for everyone, especially our straight
allies,
to stand up for LGBT rights. I LOVE that unusual girl! post yesterday

• Mrs. Peacock in the library with a knife. Sunday
night on
Logo is the
premiere of the 1985 movie Clue. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE
this movie.
Who doesn’t? Clue, based on the popular board game by the same name, was
made
into the infamous star-studded, slapstick comedy with three endings.
Those of
you who may have seen it in the theaters might remember that a different
ending
awaited you depending on the theater where you saw it. Like the DVD,
Logo will present Clue with all three endings. With a
cast that
includes Madeline Kahn, Tim Curry, Christopher Lloyd, Michael
McKean,
Lesley Ann Warren and Eileen Brennan you
couldn’t ask
for more from this comedy cornocopia. O.K. I know that some of you
disapprove of
Logo cross promotion in Watercooler posts. But, come
on, it’s
Clue!

• Victory Update. I posted a story on last month
about the
Florida nurse who had his nursing license revoked. Ray Felcho was arrested in 1976
for promoting
lewd and lacivious behavior because his drag alterego Tiny Tina hosted a wet jockey
contest at a
gay bar. Well, here is some good news. After an outpouring of support
from the
families of his dementia patients and the officer who arrested him so
many years
ago, the Florida Board of Nursing has reinstated Falco’s license. What I
am most
impressed with is that Falco holds no grudges, I know I would. “I’m not
mad at
my old employer or the state. I understand where they were coming from.”
Big
victory from a bigger man than I.

• Sex and the RNC. I am beginning to feel (o.k. I
always
have felt) that the RNC is sex obsessed. After the
revelation
earlier this week of topless club dinners comes this bit of
schadenfreude. The
RNC has sent out a fundraising mailer that listed a toll free number to
call next
to the RNC address. When dialed, the number leads you to…wait for it…a
phone-sex
line offering “live, one-on-one talk with a nasty girl who will do
anything you
want for just $2.99 per minute.”
Their response? It was a clerical error where the prefix 202 was
substituted
for 800. Hysterical!

More Stories
. Watercooler: Anna Paquin is bisexual
- The
Republican Party (not my favorite organization)
certainly did
NOT forget April Fools Day and put together a surprisingly funny video
for the
occasion. It’s a good way to start the day. In fact, in light of
Passover,
President Obama might want to check out this video too. Now’s a good
time to
take stock of all the work he still has to do.
Check out the video here.

- If Obama needed more incentive to stick to his campaign
promises, the
Federal Court has just given him an extra little gift: Turns out the wiretapping program
introduced by Bush post-9/11 and maintained by the Obama administration
since
the election is illegal. No surprise there, but in the age of
transparency,
shouldn’t the government have figured this out on their own rather than
wasting
time and money in the justice system?

- But enough Obama-bashing for the morning. On to bigger and
better news.
Although Anna Paquin is getting married to a man, she
has come out as bisexual. Now there are some
interesting politics
there (like why wait to come out until you are publicly straight and
engaged?)
but we have to celebrate nonetheless. Paquin is a lovely addition to the
club
and let me say whoever recruited her… your toaster oven is in the
mail.

- In other good news, Bill O’Reilly has agreed to
pay the legal fees for a father penalized for suing
the church
group that protested at his soldier son’s funeral. The lawsuit was
ill-advised
from the beginning. Freedom of speech permits protesting on public
property,
whether or not the message is politically offensive to those nearby.
It’s no
surprise that the judge ordered the father to pay the legal fees for the
church.
He should never have sued in the first place. But we all feel badly for
the dad
who had to read those horrible signs about how soldiers are dying
because the
U.S. supports homoseuxality. And I, for one, am glad that someone has
stepped in
to help him out with the huge tab his suit created.
