After we saw the very bad movie, "Fashion in
Murder" yesterday
we decided to try California Burgers and
Shakes, a new place that opened near me and that we had thought about
going to before. They were given a really good review in our local
alternative newspaper so that sold us on it. A review is only an
opinion and I don't agree with that re-viewer's opinion. The
cheeseburger was dry and well done and though it had all sorts of
'toppings' there was no taste to it. The fries were just as bad. With a
diet soda the tab came to $8+---I could have done better price wise, and
taste wise, at McDonald's!
I've been the
talk of Gateway for over a week and not for a good reason. As I've blogged about before, Edie said I
could use her Cadillac whenever I wanted so I have been using it on
Thursdays to do my food shopping. Two weeks ago they were having a sale
on turkeys--69 cents a pound--so I bought a 9 pound one.
On Sunday Edie called me and asked if I had
left a turkey in the trunk of the car! Yes, I had completely forgotten
about the turkey until the moment she called me! Needless to say it was
defrosted AND stunk to high heaven after 4 days in a hot trunk.
Sometimes a sale is not a sale but at least it gave a bunch of old
folks a laugh and they are still laughing!!
I wish I could remember the name of the
yellow flower in the picture. We have two palm like trees on the grounds
and they are in bloom with this beautiful flower that smells so sweet
one bloom's fragrance penetrates through the whole apartment
