Lucca and Pisa.more of Our Trip.

After breakfast this morning we took about a half hour ride to Lucca.
This is the home of a great composer Giacomo Puccini.
This is a very wealthy town in Toscano.

Giacomo Puccini. Not a very good shot of this.

We had time to enjoy the sights.
A very friendly town inculuding the people.
From here we left for Pisa to explore the Square of Miracle with the famous Leaning Tower and view Pisa Duomo.
I must say that this was one of the highlight of our tour.
The leaning tower is great and really do not mind that it is leaning.A wonderful building and the place was buzzin there with so much to see and learn.
Then we went back to our hotel for a light lunch(are they serious?)light lunch.
We had first antipasti, choice of pasta and soup.
Beef or Veal and dessert with plenty of wine.
This is the menu not the same most of the week.
Boy!do they eat.LOL>
Dessert was ice cream very yummy or some sort of sponge cake with heavy frosting.
Stuffed and then for dinner another of round of a full course meal.
Below are some of the pictures of Pisa.

Tower in the background.

Love the pictures. You look happy. I was going to ask the same question about heavy Italians, but you have already answered. However, light or not, I would gain weight eating lunch like that every day. Rest up.

Yes,it is amazing that you do not find this.Even the children/s are not having any weight problems. They must be doing something right I guess.

Do Italians have an obesity problem? Do they have McDonalds, etc? Thanks for sharing your memories.
comment by solitaire on May 26, 2011 5:57 AM ()
they do not have obesity problems.
The pasta that is grown in Italy is very light.
Pasta here is very heavy grown in this country.
They do not have all of that stuff on the pizza.
Pizza here is American version.
You will not see peppperoni, sausage etc.
Their pizza is very light.
You will see spinsach and veg.on theirs.
Yes,of course they have MacDonald.
Plenty of Extra version olive oil is the key to health there.
We here eat too much junk food.
No,they are not overweight.Maybe some are but overhaul not.
They eat very smart.

That tower is still leaning--of course they would lose most of their tourist business if they straightened it up!
comment by greatmartin on May 25, 2011 12:16 PM ()
thats for sure. But not sure if you know this or not.
That they did hired three architect to help straightened this out.
No luck. But if you did see it,you would say that they planned it this way.
