I work the evening shift tonight, the one I really like. I find I can get things done around home and then get ready for work. I can sleep in a little and be rested.
Yesterday problem child called and said she would be late. She was to come in at 2. Well by 4 she wasn't there so I asked my manager if I should close jewelry up when I leave at 6. She told me yes.
I did have some fun yesterday though. We have a new assistant manager for the store and he has to learn all of our departments. So I got to train him in jewelry yesterday. He is a hoot! He is young guy but really knows his retail stuff. We got so busy that he was ringing up customers while I bagged for him. We had one customer that was just really rude. There was a guy in one of the motorized carts. He couldn't get up to our counter because another customer was looking at stuff. So I was helping by putting his things on the counter. Here came this woman and asked if I was going to pay for her stuff, if not I needed to learn my place! I stepped back and let the assistant ring them up. As she left she commented again that I needed to stay in my place. After they left, the assistant rolled his eyes. He could see it upset me, I was only trying to help. He said not to take things personal, that I was doing great customer service and that the woman had a problem. He said to just keep smiling and go on. I really hope he becomes the assistant manager for our area. Although I felt at times I was being tested on what I knew, I feel I did a good job on explaining things to him. Even when our department manager was there, she let me keep training him. I think it was a test in a way. There are some things I don't know, like how we send our defects back or what we do with stolen items. But those are not really part of my job. I felt really good when I left work.
Things seemed to have calmed down alot. I think they are aware of problem child and how she tries to make others look bad. I feel secure in my job and my knowledge of what I am doing.
Tomorrow will be clean house day, and I will be enlisting kota's help. With the threat of not going to the fair if he doesn't help out. LOL I don't worry, he always does help me when I am cleaning. He likes to use the swiffer to do the floors. Just don't ask him to carry the clean clothes upstairs! LOL
