morning I was standing in the back hallway waiting to clock in for
work. The asst. manager in charge of jewelry came up to me and asked if
I was still interested in the jewelry position. I looked at him funny
because I thought it had been vetoed. But I told him yes I was still
very much interested. He told me to talk to our co-manager and see if
he could pass it through. The reason I was turned down was due to
absences. Well I talked to the co-manager and he did not even let me
finish explaining, he just said, oh yes it's a go! So I am going to
jewelry! Well I then ran into a friend of mine. We had worked together
many years ago for Roses. Turns out the asst. manager went to her for
her opinion of me. He did not know we knew each other and are friends.
So she told him all about my work skills and how I would be a bonus to
the jewelry dept. I gave her a big hug and thanked her manytimes. Then
when I picked up Dakota I was talking to Dot. She is the mom and is the
dept manager for jewelry and was the one who initially wanted me in
jewelry. Well she asked if anything interesting happened in the store
today because it was her day off. Of course she knew all about it but
was not allowed to tell me. She said she was going to get me in jewelry
if it was the last thing she did. Dot has been there years and seems
to carry alot of weight in the store.
While
I might have gotten this position because of who I know, they will soon
see that they did not make a mistake. I almost hugged the co-manager
after he told me I got the job! But I refrained and simply shook his
hand and thanked him about 10 times. He chuckled at my reaction.
So
I am on cloud nine. I will be full time, getting benefits and also a
pay increase. I will actually get two days in a row off as well as
alternating weekends off with the other jewelry associates! Which is
great because right now I do not get weekends off at all! So all those
people who tried to prevent me from moving can just be mad at
themselves. And there were a few people who did try to stop this. A few
of the CSM's and an asst. manager. Of course they don't want me to
leave being a cashier, but they also would not make me full time. And
in these times, it's all about the money.
I
am sorry for rambling on about this, but it's a major event to me. I
have gone from being a stay at home mom to working and moving up the
ladder. Although this is as far up the ladder that I care to go! I just
want to be able to help support my family and maybe be able to go out
to dinner or a movie once in a while! My next goal is to start saving
up for a 'new' car.
