I think the Iowa cacuses that vet presidential hopefuls
are no longer viable. Iowa was once thought to reflect
the national mood. Instead, it remains mired in the
values of the l9th century. For me, family values is
a euphanism for the idea that all that is noble and
good stems from the Christian right and anyone not
believing as they do is the antichrist and must be
denied participation in the American way of life. In
other words, bigotry supported by religion (so very "in"
these days) because God says so and they know what He
wants because He talks to them.
