An Oklahoma City woman didn't show up for work and the Police went to check on her. They had to call in the Firemen.
She was lying in an accumulation of trash. It took two hours just to get to her body. Eventually two tons of trash were removed from her home.
The water had been off for six years. There were no working light bulbs in the house and she was also hoarding cats and not providing litter boxes for them so the house was full of cat urine and feces. She urinated into cups and took a bath once a week at a neighbors home.
The home was not trashy outside. No one had a clue about her obsession except the neighbor who furnished her bath.
She never answered the door.
This condition is marked by the inability to discard anything.
It strikes mostly women between the ages of 50 to 90. The
Oklahoma City Police have seen this twice in the past year.
Evidently there are a lot of people who keep an excessive amount of animals inside and never let them out. I knew a
cat hoarder. The health department forced her to move to
a nursing home because the stench from her house was so
bad that the neighbors turned to the state health dept. for
help. She had a lot of money but refused to allow anyone to
clean her house. She also had a lake house full of junk and
another house that was crammed to capacity.
People that have this disorder don't answer the door and
don't have any social life but try to keep the outside of their
home looking normal. I would worry about myself but I got
an extra trash thingie so I could throw more things away.
I haven't seen the show onA&E but I am going to watch it.
Ellie and I went to a garage sale recently that was held by two people we suspected of being hoarders. However, in
this neighborhood not many people are able to park their
cars in the garage because their garages are full. Including
us.
