Melodrama and the Ice

First off, let me tell you about the old Bette Davis movie that we watched last night, courtesy of Netflix. It was called "The Old Maid" and it was good. Bette Davis as a young woman was very pretty and must have had a sixteen inch waist. I was a little surprised that Ted liked it but he did. It revolved around the fact that Miriam Hopkins as the other sister always took every thing that was dear to Bette Davis away from her. It was black and white and set in the Civil War period and then twenty years afterward. We needed it and a couple of glasses of wine after our morning ordeal.

It melts the sleet during the day and it freezes again at night and is as slick as snot. Also to get out of our driveway, we have to ascend a curving hill. The Suburban would not do it. Ted coaxed Pearl up the hill and we finally got underway. We were going to the Commissary for groceries and to pick up a case of wine for Bobby, as part of his Birthday gift. He also got a Ralph Lauren pullover and a picture of me. Since I am having my birthday quite soon, Ted made one to give the kids. I refuse to believe that I won't be around much longer, but who knows?

The trip morphed into a visit to the Honda dealership, the dollar tree, the Pharmacy and another grocery store that was having a fantastic sale. It was six o'clock when we finally got home and it was refreezing. There is another hill to get back into the driveway and we got stuck.
It took a big box of kitty litter and a shovel to get us out. I went to the house to feed and air the dogs while Ted worked with the car and Red called me 4 times, just as I was ready to go help out to check on Ted's progress. He is too crippled to help and I found his concern a little too oppressive. But it was also sweet

It all ended with leaving most of the stuff in the car until it thaws today and coming to the house and having Hot Pockets and a wine and movie festival. We needed it.
