Gray and Dismal

The weather here is enough to depress the cheeriest of optimists. It is l4 degrees this morning and I am building fires in the fireplace just as an antidepressant. Fortunately we don't have to leave the house today. Since I am on blood thinners the cold is hard to bear. I made a trip to the library before it got so cold so I have a lot to read. I also laid in a supply of snacks and chocolate to get us through these wintery days. My bad!! I read the news about Jimmy Carter. A brain bleed is something we have to be careful about if we fall. I am going to ask my doctor for physical therapy because I am having trouble with balance. She told me to use a cane but it is very unhandy. I have a beautiful cane that I got in Belize years before I ever thought I might need one. I am looking forward to our family reunion at thanksgiving. It is always wonderful to see my nieces and nephews and their families. I will be baking a lot and smoking at least one turkey breast. Pecan pies and lots of cookies. My coffee is especially good this morning. It always seems better when you open a fresh can. Happy thanksgiving to all of you!!

I didn't know it got that cold in Oklahoma. One reason we left New York was to avoid temps like that. It was 60 this morning, a cold wave! I don't mind for myself when we have cold snaps, but the wildlife dies and that is awful.

I really hate the cold weather. My response is to avoid going out but we usually have warm weather clear up to Christmas. I hate it for the critters too.

Your holiday menu planning always inspires me. Right now I'm thinking about your 'lots of cookies!' Not just cookies, but lots of them. I'm going to add another kind to my list.

One of my favorites is raisin cinnamon oatmeal but the kids seem to really like the old fashioned sugar cookies and the chocolate chip best.
I remember the days when all the moms said double the batter on che chocolate chips for economy's sake.

I will. Are you taking the kids on y our cruise? I always enjoy the adult activities on a cruise and I am craving drinks on a beach!!!

We had been planning to shop today to avoid the school holiday yesterday but I watched the forecast and moved it up to yesterday even tho the Chinese buffet that I've been trying to get to for months was closed. From 45 and dry yesterday it's 23 with light snow on the ground today. I have no enthusiasm for anything so I'm thinking about asking the doc to increase my antidepressant. I've been using it for more than four years and it does tend to become ineffective after a period of time. I should think about doing my own post before I go any further.... stay warm!

I absolutely crave chinese food but we haven't found a good chinese buffet close by. It will probably be soup and chicken salad sandwiches for lunch today. I didn't know you were on an anti depressant. According to my doctor, I over produce seratonin so have never needed one.

It is gray and gloomy here in VA as well. Along with a threat of snow!!!
We are leaving for a cruise next week and then I’m not sure what we will do for Thanksgiving, but my in laws will be here.
Take care and enjoy your day bundles up reading and eating chocolate!
