Around the Block

Rex and I were out this morning before seven. It was not unbearable yet and there are advantages to Friday mornings. It is the time when people are putting their garage sale stuff out. I got two unusual pieces of pottery, some crown molding and an unusual woven basket. I spent fourteen dollars. When I lugged it all home, Ted remarked that it was a giveaway instead of a sale. Ted and I have both made pots and are really into pottery.

I wanted to put some of our junk on the curb because the Friday garage sale crowd snatches it up but I think I will donate it to the league for the Blind. We have three tv's,
2 metal chairs and some cushions to dispose of. We are still cleaning up stuff that the former owner left behind.

I enjoy walking and looking at the landscaping. Some people do a great job and there is an exotic looking plant that looks like a green fountain. I have seen it in several yards and I am going to ask what it is. I can't plant anything until fall, it would expire from sun stroke.

I have pink and purple crepe myrtle in the back yard. It is blooming now. I think they bloom through August. It was
flowering when Linda was married and I remember thinking
how pretty the church would have looked with masses of it.
Her bridesmaids wore that color pink.

We have no plans for the fourth. It is too hot to go watch the fireworks. TAFB has cancelled their celebration and I am
so glad. The little girls love it but it is so crowded and you have to walk a mile to get to the runway where they have it.
They have spectacular fireworks and inflatable games. You also have to lug your own chair with you. Bummer!

Ted's brother hosts one of the most miserable celebrations I have ever attended. Everyone brings food and drink and you are out in the heat all day. It lasts for hours and hours and he is mad at us because we quit going. Ted took me before we were married and I didn't know anyone. It was really bad. There are always people who crash the party. I
put my foot down sometime ago.
