Yay I Get to Be Big Daddy Again

I'm sure you are all wondering what in the heck I am talking about, and it none other than me nerding out again with the potential release of the sequel to one of my favorite video games from the last few years....HALO 3 eat your heart out.

Bioshock 2, The sequel to the Game of the Year nominated Bioshock has just recently announced a release date of October 30th internationally and November 3rd in North America for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC just in time for Christmas ‘09 of course (according to Cult of Rapture) . There is nothing better than giving the gamer in your life the gift of killing crazed mutants and cultists in a shadowy submerged underworld to celebrate the joyous holiday.

Based on the recent previews seen on G4’s X-Play( called SPIKE for nerds) this game is shaping up to be “more of the same but cooler.” Some of the new features include adventuring underwater, Big Sisters, and of course new Plasmids. In this version instead of waiting for most of the game to become a Big Daddy, the player will get to be the Big Daddy right from the start – albeit with some new weapon options like a Rivet Gun and what seems to be some better visibility. Just as in the original, there will be the dark and light paths that have become a staple of the modern video game. The setting will echo the horror/dark comedy feel of the original, taking up eight to ten years after the manic last gasp of Andrew Ryan (Rapture’s creator).

Okay yes, of course there are plot holes in the continuity and the ending of the first game sure seemed pretty final, but when a game goes as well as this one, be sure to expect a sequel. If this one proves to be as huge as the original perhaps there will be “Bioshock 3: Battle of the Sharks”. One way or the other, it’s certain that gamers across the globe will be waiting for their second chance to explore this social experiment gone wrong. Now all I have to wait for is Elder Scrolls 5 in 2010 now that I am finally done with Fallout 3.

I do love my RPG.....................
