Sometime after my niece, Aria was born, my sister asked me paint her as a fairy. Well, she is barely two years old now and is finally old enough to paint standing up- and with recognizable features. Trouble is, while this fairy looks like Aria, it also looks a bit older than her present age. I had to stop trying to 'fix' it, however, because I risked really screwing it up.
I have had a very busy week. Time flies! Despite this, I have to laugh because that ever-growing 'to-do' list has not gotten any shorter. What do I do with my time? The last couple of nights I watched some movies and on Sunday I read a book, "Girl In Translation". Despite the heroine being a girl/woman, I cannot imagine a man not liking this book. The book is about cultural divides, not gender. All of this accounts for many hours of my time, but once in a while, I just have to stop and relax!
Sometimes, I have to escape my growing list of CG Auxiliary duties. Last week, Rescue 21 was down and hundreds of Auxiliary members (including me)took shifts 24/7 listening to emergency marine bands while the USCG got their radio back on line. Now, there is that awful spill in the gulf. The USCG in St. Pete has their emergency response center up and running. That will also be a 24/7 operation. Everybody knows I am a night owl so I get asked to take those late night/ early morning shifts that are hard to fill- but I have not been asked yet, and I think for once I will decline! I would not mind so much except for the one hour plus drive to St. Petersburg.
This week, I committed myself to participating in an art event in Tampa, "Chalk-Walk". I look forward to that, and on Monday I will be instructing a webinar for VSA Florida (the organization Lora and I belong to for disabled artists).
Guess I will stop moaning about where my time goes. I tend to take a day at a time, and when I look at what I do over the course of a few days, it makes more sense. Of course, I am not often this busy!
