Tree Trimming

Yes, winter is approaching in Florida. You can tell by the brown patches of lawn and the dead stuff along the creek behind my house. This part of the lawn is not actually my backyard but the easement behind it so I don't spend money on grass seed for it. At any rate, I had my tree trimmed yesterday and feel as if I opened the whole world into my life. My total privacy is gone! I can see the houses on the other side of the creek, and no doubt they can see me. It needed to be done. The branches had dropped to less than four feet off the ground in places. It may not look like it here, but the canopy is now at least 15 feet off the ground. It is a huge, old tree.

This time of year, my CG Auxiliary activity slows down. I can catch up on things and even paint. Yesterday (?) I painted a non-religious Christmas card especially for my friends here on MyBloggers. I had Christmas cards made up for my personal use but the image is religious, so I wanted a non-religious one. Now, I am wondering if I should get some of them printed too. My original intention was just to use it as a digital file to post here and on Facebook, but so many of my friends are either atheist or agnostic that after reading so many of Randy's posts I am wondering if the religious art offends some of my friends. Will have to think about that.

Can't wait to see your card. I don't care if it is religious that is part of
the tradition of Christmas. Love your art!

I hope it didn't sound like I was asking for a card. I am curious as to what you will come up with, secularly! Here's my address:

"So many"? I can't help myself. In fact, I restrain myself from writing more anti-religion posts. But to the point of your post: I applaud your "sensitivity" to those of us who like to celebrate the holiday (solstice?), but don't like the religious aspects of it. Do you need my mailing address?

Yes, I do!

I have a contract to have three trees trimmed. I saved $125 by deciding to do the cleanup myself, since everything is burnable, but it's taking forever for the guy to get here. The hurricane in late August gave him a bunch of extra work. I don't mind the cleanup, but I'd like to do it before the snow flies.

As for Christmas cards: It is a religious holiday, and speaking only for myself, I am not offended by religious symbolism.

I'll bet the tree appreciates the trimming. So nice to have that easement and tree line behind you to extend your yard.

It is why I bought a house here- I knew I would never have an immediate backyard neighbor.
