The first step was to compose the image, this time in pencil. As I mentioned before, I am usually too lazy to draw full sketches. I think I would like to try this in pastels and then possibly in oils.
At least I have multiple subjects in this composition. What on earth made me think of a funeral? Echos of my son's viewing?
I am thinking about removing the candelabra and putting stained glass windows behind the casket... or drapes? Or what? I just know that I want to remove the candelabra but I am not sure how to fill in the background yet. Hm...
