This image is painted on a hub cap for a project called Landfill Art. I call it, "Can You See Me Now?" I was invited to participate in this project. They even sent me the hubcap to use. It sat on my back porch for weeks while I figured out what to paint on it. My original idea was a 3D project- a man climbing out of a pile of rubbish, but I figured I'd best leave sculpting to those better at it than me. This fish-eye view of a face seemed like a better idea. It is the face of a guy I dated for a few weeks. Glad he is not around to see this! He might be upset by the distortion.
I was invited to participate in a festival in Ft. Lauderdale in April. They even offered to waive the $150 entry fee. I hope this means my work is finally gaining some recognition. That is two invitations this year already that I did not solicit. Since that too is about ecology and environmental protection, I suggested they invite the USCG Auxiliary as they have a lot of marine environmental protection programs for children and families. They did, so I may be able to see some fellow Auxiliarists while I am there. I look forward to it.
