I returned from my sister's house in Virginia late yesterday afternoon. Yesterday's drive was not much fun. All through Georgia and Florida it rained continuously, once with one of those blinding down pours that makes 50% of the people (including me) pull off the road. Being with my sister was great, but being home again feels wonderful.
As soon as I got home and showered, I turned to finishing this painting that I started before I left. I felt compelled to paint as I could not do so while helping my sister with a new born and an 18 month old. Two weeks without painting! I needed my 'fix'.
The photo is not great because it was too dark to get a good picture by the time that I finished this, but I really wanted to post it. Guess I will call it, "Through Rain, Sleet, Snow and... Snakes?" It was inspired by an experience my mailman had once while delivering a package to my door. This too is a Grissaile; well, my version of a Grissaile, anyway. One more thing. I started using safflower oil instead of linseed oil and I like it so much better! It is not prone to yellowing and is lighter and easier to work with.
