What a funny post! Such a way with words! Your garage sounds like the way my parent's garage was. It was built and addeded on to their house only 6 years ago, but everything and anything my father saved from his small engine repair business went in there, plus a freezer, yard and hand tools, tires, lawn/yard games and chairs, portable grills...oh, everything but the car! We had to empty out that garage a year and a half ago when they sold the house to move into elderly housing. Guess what? Mom pulled the car into the garage on their last night there for it's one and only "sleep" in the garage! The next day, the car was parked in it's "outside" parking spot in front of their new apartment. I wish you luck with all your future "unloading"!
That was cute! Yeah, funny cute...that's what I meant!
I used to read 2, sometimes 3 books at the same time when I was a child. And, I read encyclopedias like they were storybooks...I loved reading an "article", then going to other "recommended reading" at the end of each one. (This habit began when I would get a new volume of the children's encyclopedia each month at the grocery store.) By the time I was 12, I had read most of the "children's" classics (Robinson Crusoe, Treasure Island, Gulliver's Travels, etc.) and all sorts of series (Nancy Drew, for instance). I continued to read until about 15 or 16, then it dropped off until I was in my 20's. It dropped off again in my 30's, but I did go through waves of reading in between, all the way to turning 50. Then my eyesight starting changing but I couldn't afford new glasses, so I slowly gave it up. Now, though, I have new glasses and have started reading again. I read 4-6 books (usually 2 at a time) and then take a break. I'm due to start another reading stretch again any day now.
I love finding sites like that! I can go months of interesting things but nothing that really, really hits me. But, then, all of a sudden...yes! A winner! Make sure you keep it in your favorites...you never know when you might have the extra cash!
I am listening to Lodi right now as I'm writing this and I am just soaking it all in. Bo is a legend...he didn't have to be a chart-topper to achieve it, either. His talent went well-beyond "putting out a record" and other artists knew it. A great talent for sure who will be missed. His music, though, will live forever because he's already got the attention and dedication of other artists...and their fans. I hope Bo Diddley will be very happy up there in that rock & roll heaven!
I can think back and remember my grandfather saying how he missed certain things that seemed to be "not the same" to him. Since then, I've been hearing my father (and my mother, too) saying how they miss a lot of things that have changed or pretty much disappeared. Now, I find myself thinking the same way about a lot of things. Change is good, I won't argue that...but, it's sad when so many good things are lost or changed for the worst in the process.
That was a lot of fun! Great job!
Well, I don't know who got you all grouched up, but you are giving the complete lesson here. Sad thing is that those who need it probably won't read it. I don't like people upsetting my friends, so I hope this person (and others like him/her) will behave or stay away.
By the way, your choice of music for this post is perfect! I think I know why I like you so much...you are not only a real fan of music, have a great sense of un-ending humor, possess genuine kindness and sincerity, and can be a true grouch (a lovable one, though)...but, you are as creative as I am!
Well, if you're the one standing there naked in that cartoon, then yes, I am including you as I'm trying to turn off the lights. Otherwise, stick around and keep shining with your brightfully funny humor!
Congrats! You deserve it and we all know it!
Sorry, can't help you. I just mastered making a playlist, adding songs to it, and being able to post it in different places...that took me 6 months to figure out.
You deserve some movie and snack food time. I hope you enjoyed every moment of it after all that testing and peeing stuff.
