THINGS I'M GOING TO MISS!
As we progress through life, I'm sure there are times when you have stopped and thought of things that were. That's where I am today. So below is my list of things I'm really going to miss:
Innocence of youth - Having a first date - My first kiss - My first love – First day of school – First friend – First fire bug – First night crawler – First fish caught – First time being alone – First paddling - Seeing my first steam roller - First trolley ride – First big train ride – First Santa – First Christmas window display (with a full train set) – First Church – First book – Whole lot of firsts, Job, Day at boot camp, Mistake, Combat mission, Death of a friend, Coming home to jeers instead of cheers, Peace nick, Love child, Mary u Wanna, Big city, Robbery, Voting booth - Going to miss just getting into a car and driving for the fun of it – Drive ins for food and movies – Skating waitresses – Believing in politicians – (did you ever notice that there is a “i can” in American but none in Politician?) - Thinking that the “We” in “We the People” used to mean us – When loyalty went both ways for the employee and the company – That we could trust banks – That Judges were impartial – That lobbyists were the care takers in the lobby of a hotel – When the Rockefeller's ran EXXON they were fair and gave back to the community - That CEO used to mean “Chief Executive of Operations” and not “ Cheat at Every Opportunity” - When we had a full military and reserves meant just that “in reserve” - When the News media reported the real and truthful news – When talk shows were used to help ordinary people and not ridicule the public for their own riches – When children had “hero's” to look up to – When men held doors and chairs for ladies – Those fashionable hats women wore – When we had to use our imagination when looking at a lady – When Santa still could say “HO! HO! HO!” - When 4 letter words were Love, Kiss, Hugs, & Hope – When people made time for others – When Laws were meant to be obeyed – When our Police & Fire people were respected – When people stood as a whole for the Flag raising and Anthem – When we said “I am an American” was envied – When we took a step back in line to let the elderly go ahead of us – When we meant “Good Morning & Excuse Me” - When “made in a America” was common.
