A museum is definitely a nice way to pass some time...it doesn't always have to be a movie (although I would not have passed on a chance to see Nicolas Cage)...and art museums are certainly good for inspiring conversations because who can resist making comments.

I love this post! I had to laugh...and keep laughing...your description of green teeth, orange glo, looking through lava lamps were just all too funny! I happen to watch a lot of tv and I am insulted when people tell me that I am wasting my time, compromising my intelligence, etc. I can go for days without tv and I can also watch tv all day long. I can have it on "in the background" or I can be really paying attention. I watch silly things, old things, new things, informative things, funny things, helpful things, naughty things (not too naughty lol), educational things, entertaining things and whatever I feel like watching...and I am not ashamed of it nor do I plan to change my ways just because someone might think I should. Hey, I also read, walk, take pictures, blog, spend time with family and friends, do housework, work, and a bunch of other things, so I'm not missing out on other things by watching tv. However, I might not watch so much tv if all people were shades of orange with green teeth and braces!

The important thing is that everybody is ok in Louisiana. And, if anybody is going to tear off their clothes and go running down the street and it's because it's still raining, well at least that person will be nice and clean in the jail cell!

Driving lessons...scary a bit, huh? But, you know, both your kids seem to be quite responsible and have shown many signs of maturity, so they should make good, concientious drivers. They'll do best if you don't get overly nervous and excited, so do your best to remain calm and cool.

A bit of an error in my last statement in my comment...legal crime is not what I meant to say, as I know you will be able to figure out for yourself. I meant to say that, although abortion may always be considered a crime by some people even if it is legal...as a legal procedure it eliminates the crime of dirty, unsafe, barbaric illegal abortions AND it takes away the cushy, easy life of those who would be performing the illegal abortions.
Comment on My Thoughts on Abortion - Oct 2, 2008 3:02 PM ()
I also don't believe that abortion should be used as a mere means of birth control when pregnancy could have been prevented in the first place. I like having the right to choose that opinion...I like the fact that women have the choice of believing in that or not...even though I feel it is wrong to use abortion as a selfish convenience. In the case of rape/incest, that is a very, very, extremely very personal thing. All people are different and each person is different at different ages. Some, as you say, may not mentally (or even physically) be able to carry a baby full term without dire consequences to the baby or to herself...the reminder, as you put it, could be unbearable and result in suicide, self-inflicted injury, a serious breakdown, etc. If it was a violent rape (yes, all rapes are violent, but I'm talking additional torture and injury), the person may need to be totally "rescued" from the crime and as long as there's a pregnancy and a birth there will always be an "alive" connection/reminder that won't let it be put in the past. In the case of a baby being fathered by a person's father, brother, or uncle...where will it all go from there? Will the violator now have possible access for more abuse considering the child will rightfully be his? Will others in the family, neighborhood, circle of friends, etc. be sympathetic, supportive, judgemental, indifferent, etc? What if the mother of the child is 32? What if the mother is only 12? What if the mother is in legal trouble herself and may be spending time in prison or in a home of some sort? These are personal questions with personal answers...and EACH woman has to decide for herself, maybe with the assistance of loved ones and/or medical personnel, but each case is different and women need to have that right to do what is right in a particular situation.

I don't like abortion, I wish it didn't have to exist...and that would be an ideal world, wouldn't it? However, things are far from being ideal and abortion is going to exist whether legal or not. If a woman is going to choose to have an abortion and desperately seeks one out even when it's illegal, it shows that people will still take it upon themselves to have this choice...those that get the abortions and those that perform them. Even if people are so cold and heartless to condemn any woman who would do this and not care if conditions were safe or sanitary anyway, they could not possibly be supportive of the abortionists making money and living high and mighty on the money made from the abortions...so keeping abortions legal not only stops the legal crime of it all, but it stops these criminals from living the same cushy lives of drug dealers and pimps.

You are so good to people, Martin! What a really nice thing to do because it's also very helpful.
Comment on It Feels Good to Give a Gift! - Oct 2, 2008 2:28 PM ()
Well, one sock and one ankle warmer to start. That's a nice gift. Then, you can either finish the sock by turning the ankle warmer into a sock OR you can knit another pair just like the one you gave as a gift...thus, one pair of socks and one pair of ankle warmers. (Hey, I know people who want thicker socks but can't take the extra thickness inside their shoes... makes the shoes too tight or their feet too sweaty. Wear a regular pair of socks and put the ankle warmers on over them...they'll fit from the heels up. Does this make sense?

She is perfectly free to express her opinions AS LONG AS SHE STATES that is HER opinion, that it IS an opinion...and, as a speaker to a religious group, she certainly is going to talk in terms they will agree with, but it should be her responsibility to also point out that it is HER belief that that these things are God's will and those that agree with her are invited to pray and believe along the same lines...but, it is also her responsibility to carry out whatever is right or best for the nation even if she didn't believe in God, if it's in the best interest of the country or the people regardless of beliefs, etc. When politicians can put the "thou shalt not kill" rule aside to support war and targeting, and they can put the "thou shall not..." other rules aside to fulfill their needs, then to "conveniently" put God into a reason for for gaining support is inexcusable and pathetic. It's bad enough that religious leaders twist religion as is convenient, we really don't need politicians doing that, just like we don't need religious leaders conveniently twisting politics...the politicians do a good enough job of it already!

I love Home Improvement and still watch it often, almost as often as when it was initially enjoying it's "original" broadcast seasons.

I think it's great that you donated those books. I hope they will be of help to some people.

I hope you are feeling better because, by now at this date, you should have been on your meds long enough and should be doing better. It's no fun being sick, especially when it's on top of other things that must remain fixed in our lives, so I hope the sick is now a thing of the past.

I love Thai food! Great choice!

Anxiety comes from the sub-conscious in most cases or at least feeds into whatever else may be causing it. Without you even realizing it, underlying everthing might be a natural effect being caused from a lack of sleep, an inner impatience for not being 100% yourself, some imbedded concern for the meds you are taking and how much you are or should be taking and the addiction part but also knowing you need it, and there's some hidden or obvious emotion for what some people have done for you and with you with some emotional gratitude but maybe some feeling of being less independent and/or obliged to them and/or even feeling a little guilty about all of it. Doctors can often help you sort all of this stuff out so you can start working on reducing...and then eliminating...the anxiety. Keep talking to your doctors...even call them in between visits if you have to.

A lot of work being done there, but from the sound of it, it will all be worth it. What a nice looking yard you will have, for sure! Too bad the little one missed out on seeing it, but there will be other work that will get done that might be of interest to see and watch.

I think if I ever wake up and stay awake long enough to get caught up on all the blogs I still have to read, I might actually see one of these quizzes on time! I'm still enjoying them, although I'm reading them way after the dates, but I'd love to be part of the action when the action is still on! Besides, I want some of those sweet treats you've been giving away!
