Booking Shows

Here are a few pictures of me in a busy festival. Now if you look "closely" there is MY DISPLAY in the background of all those people. What are they doing? They are looking at my work. They are mostly "watching me work". I usually got half a dozen heads a foot from me, trying to see what I am doing.. lol. (Lots of boobs in my face too.. my work is small, so they gotta bend over and really look close.. lol)

-----------------------------------------------
What I've been up too (Besides Blogging):

I've been calling all the "major" shows in Michigan. The ones I "know" I can make great money at. I honestly think this summer will be "very good" for sales. Most major Michigan promoters know me (or at least heard of me).

Getting into these BIG shows, isn't the main problem when you are well established and well known (I am both). The problem is.. all these "major" shows have waiting lists. Do they want me there? Yes, most all do! But also, they want "money" up front. Think of it, this time of year you got promoters from shows ALL wanting money first. Sure they want you, and sure many will hold off awhile based on your word that "you will show" but that won't last long.

From a vendor stand point. Sure, I could book everything right now. And secure a very "profitable" season. I am "excellent" at my art. Not bragging, but you won't find many that disagree. Right now, I want to book a MAJOR event every single week. I admit, I was "burnt out" on that for awhile. Didn't do much except internet sales. I am not now. I'm ready to "rock and roll" again. I did 17 shows last year (to get into it again, but not many BIG events). This is why I understand some of these big rock bands. Bands like "Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest".. kinda give up awhile then go back. I guess to me, I had many life changes.. many things going on. But right now there isn't anything stopping me from doing a full circuit this year.

To do this, right now.. we need ALOT of money up front. Consider this. Most "good" weekend events (through the year) run between $50-$500 dollars. 10 Day shows like "Daytona Bike week" are $1700. A Christmas show in a mall... is like $8000+ now (but used to be more. Now I'd never book a show I felt I'd loose money. Not to mention you have Gas, supplies.. alot more.

It may not seem alot to you now... but times these numbers by the 52 weeks a year.. lol. And around this time, all want something "up front". Some don't (some promoters I know very well).. but the super major shows do.

I'm thinking that we "push" this right now. We will have to fall back on the "child support" for a few, because we need to get in as many as possible. I am confirmed on many. Now if you think.. "Pay the child support now", don't. Both my ex and me know this game well. She isn't asking for anything now. She knows how much I can make hitting the big events. She knows it will mean money in her pocket. The thing is.. in Michigan.. when I do that.. I am risking going to jail in the meantime. The courts take over, even if the ex doesn't complain. But it's the way I gotta play this game right now. All in all... me working these big events, is the best for all.

I probably won't be able to do ALL I want. But the main top ones I will be in. It's already set in motion.

Take care all, Gary :)
