A Journey Into My Life

2 Blocks

Yep.. 2 blocks.. two "simple blocks" have made my fluccking day!!

As I said before.. I am working on this "video game". I had some big issues, on how to create "multiple scrolling backgrounds", and the correct "transparency of tiles(when needed". I now solved that problem. I have a simple "2 test blocks", scrolling a different rate in the background of my game. Now what it means to me "really" is this. I can now create "multiple scrolling backgrounds" almost instantly. Of course graphics will take time. I never intended this to be a "quick" release project. I've wanted to make some "cooler" games a very long time. I have made some cool ones.. but this one will far surpass that. I am just happy a "technical" aspect of this game is solved.

Yes, it will be a "2D" game. I know alot of developers (well most) are complete 3D makers now. I've never been convinced that is better. I feel with stronger computers, and the ability to display "more sprites, higher resolution", things like that.. some really cool "Platform" games can be made. Thats what I intend to do.

I got almost the entire first level (foreground map) done. It will be months before that one level is complete. I need to add/animate sprites, set map and tile attributes (like how the player interacts with each tile).. alot really. Plus alot of time creating graphics. It's ok.. this is what I do for FUN. I do it in my spare time when not working. Trust me.. this will look (and be) very professional when done. It already looks that way now.
-----------------------------

Other news,, well I made up like 3 lbs of taco meat (and sausage mixed in). Plus chopped onions, tomatoe's all that. I put it in little baggies, so the kids can have "pre-made" good stuff to eat. Microblast.. and there ya go.. lol. I did that this morning, in-between setting up the yard sale.

Yard sale.. well the only day we didn't sell anything was "Saturday".. average, we are making between $20-$40 each day. Today we made about $30. Not much, but considering we don't have to go anywhere.. can be here inside all day to do stuff.. it isn't too bad. Takes some time to setup and cover at night.. but not that big a deal. The only problems we had were today. The wind kicked up, and blew my big displays over (twice).. lol. Sucked really. Takes hours to untangle all those "chains".

Ok.. out for now.. back to my game making. Gotta cover the yard sale soon too...

Gary :)

On a second note.. I am wanting some "original" game music. If your in a "band".. or just kinda good on "guitar (and have some friends who play other instruments).. I'd like to hear your work. I can't "pay" you.. but if I use your work, you will be in the credits of a "major" project..

Stared making a "help file (.html)" for my game today. For now, before I release the game I'll just post updates on my "coincutting site". The link to the actual file is below:
https://www.handcutcoins.freepchost.com/Sebhelp.html

As I make the game, this will say the "progress, problems, bugs, the good too"..

When I make something like this (and I have several 2+ years DOS programs out) I get really involved. I'll cover everything I can.. just kinda want to show you the progress from time to time. Actually.. you can use the link above (bookmark).. to see current progress most anytime now..

PS.. the game is called "Sebastian Lee".. (after my son). He's like a "good guy",, a fighter of evil..
