Better Off
Now that the election is finally over I can start writing again instead of constantly searching the web for news on the candidates and the barrage of stories that have occupied a large portion of my free time. I am not ashamed to admit now that I have learned that I was not the only one.
So the night of the election I found myself in a hotel room in Morocco, Fes to be precise. The election results started coming in about 11:00 pm at night. The final results, when California closed the polls came in sometime around 4:00 am.
I started whooping so loud that my neighbors banged on the walls. Can’t recall the last time that happened!
The next day we went to a city called Arfoud, driving through beautiful snow capped mountains to get there.
That night we had a sunset camel ride scheduled. When we reached the top of the sand dunes and the sun was setting all the camel jockeys, simultaneously, and un-prompted started to shout Obama with pure joy in their voices.
Everywhere we travelled people shouted Obama at us, assuming that we were all Americans.
As I was leaving the country and went through security the guard motioned me through and said Obama.
Well he certainly has made my life better already.
