Shhhh! Don't Tell the Doc Anything ...

Mom showed up for the test today. She was very late but at least she came. I give her kudos for that - she hates mornings and this appointment was for 8:30 a.m.

She told the doctor, that I was the one who had referred her for the testing. Then she tried to deny that the memory doc had anything to do with it. She said she didn't want any of the information from today to go to her regular doc or to the memory doc. Go figure! (Ha, ha, I made sure they'll get the info.)

She pulled a couple more weird ideas like those out of her hat before the test began - she really was in quite a mood. I had completed the forms because she "lost" hers.

In one place, it asked what we hoped to get out of the testing, "I would never write all that," she said. "I can't believe you told them all that about me!" Oh well, the testing will see through her anyway. Her criticism got cut short when the doc and I left so the testing could begin.

The doc was very perceptive and right away picked up on some of the nuances of our relationship. "Has she always been so irritable toward you or is this a recent change?" was his first question. I've gotten so used to it that I don't even notice it most of the time. He seemed to agree with my concerns about her finances. He also wanted copies of the hospital records from Georgia and asked about other aspects of her living in the real world. He took notes when I showed him the photos I'd taken of the way she was living in Florida.

Now we wait. We didn't even get a hint of a diagnosis today and I really wanted one. But after all the headaches and delays, I can wait another week.
