Picture a young - 30ish doctor wearing a lab coat at least three sizes too big. Someone must have had a bizarre sense of humor when they ordered it. He's pretty thin and medium height. The coat looks like it's a size double or triple x. He could be a little kid wearing his daddies coat, playing dress up. But it had his name on it with the letters signifying that's he's an M.D. with a PhD. So it must have been his. That sight put me in a good mood before he even introduced himself.
That was my vascular surgeon. He gave me some scary news the other day. I have about a 60% blockage in my right carotid artery. No surgery for now, but I have to take a baby aspirin every day. I see him for a follow up, and another Doppler test in a year. All I could think of was I don't want to end up like my mother with dead spots in her brain from lack of blood flow.
