Friday, Bella had an ultrasound of her liver. The vet said she probably doesn't have Liver Cancer.

The new diagnosis is cholangiohepatitis. It's serious illness and eventually will be terminal. But there are treatments. If that's what she has and she responds to the treatment she'll be comfortable for a while longer.

On the other hand, she could have Cushing's disease. The vet said her symptoms all point to it but the tests don't. It's another terminal illness that is treatable. The med is hugely expensive, and is very hard on them. It's basically chemo-therapy used on human cancer patients. My earlier dog, Bob, had Cushing's. He didn't have any other health problems though, and Bella does.

She'll have another blood test in a month to see if the treatment is helping.

I'm glad she doesn't have cancer - but I don't like that she's so seriously ill. Dogs work hard at hiding their pain, so it's hard to tell what's going on with her.
