My mom doesn't have the hereditary kind, but her sister and mother both had it. Last week I met a lady who had 6 members of her family - her mother-in-law and husband's siblings diagnosed with it. It seems that every other person I meet has a family member or friend with it.

There are over 5 million people in the U.S. with it now - that number will more than triple in the next few years as the baby boomers (I'm one) get older. Scares the hell out of me.
