Don't mean to present a false impression ... when I hear an Etta James recording, I appreciate it and recognize the quality, but I don't seek it. More to my liking are the early Ella Fitzgerald recordings (before she went all skat -- yes, I know that's a talent too and my response is ho-hum). I also don't seek Ella's recordings. I just prefer the emotional high I get from classical music.
