Oh No, What Did I Just Do?

This thought crossed my mind as I hit the enter key. What I did was delete all the names in my email address book. It started when I tried to set up a new group. I guess I inadvertently copied my whole list into the new group. On discovering this, I tried to delete the new group and Poof, there went every single name. I have spent much time this morning trying to recreate my list. Fortunately, I have received email from several sets of friends this week and they are still in the trash. I also sent out some emails and they are still in the sent folder. And I received some emails this morning. I have been going through these three sources and have recovered at least half of the names. I was able to send out a few new emails and asked friends to send me other email addresses. I guess I will hear from the missing others when they don't hear from me after a while. Or not. I will find out who my friends are. I can't believe I did that, after spending half of my working life as a computer person. I used to be called the Goddess. What happened to me?

My "back-up" is a little black (actually yellow) book. Keeps track of all my passwords, too. I still can't figure out why I get an "invalid password" response every now and then.

And I only wasted three hours before that. That was my penance.

I know that sinking feeling. A couple of years ago I somehow deleted the folder where I was storing my business emails - addresses of former cabin renters, contacts for selling a farm, probably some important attachments. Somehow things have worked out, but I still don't know what happened to them. Good to hear that you worked it out. I'll look for that backup feature.

The heading Backup and Restore is kind of misleading but the end result was great.

Marta! Thank you! I decided that I would see what the Backup and Restore instructions did and guess what? It lets you go back to a date in the past and restore from that date. So I did and got them all back. Yay!

While I was restoring the names I could find, I noticed there is a message at the top of my screen to Save and Restore addresses. Alas, too late for me, but maybe not for you.

Folks tell me it's called old timer's disease but I've always been that way.
The last time we bought a new computer the computer guy neglected to transfer our address book. Those who didn't contact us we haven't missed.

We think alike. If I don't hear from people, that is OK.
