Is Lip Syncing Cheating?

I don't know why it is bothering me that Beyonce lip synced the National Anthem at the Inauguration festivities last week but it is. Possibly because I think it is cheating or at least misrepresentation, even if she was moving her mouth to her own recording. Cheating is cheating, even if everyone does it. And she involved the Marine Band in this charade, too. If they were going to play a recording, why was she even there? This has been on the news as much as the Teo story. Does anyone care?

Bah, humbug. My curmudgeon side is coming out. What is a female curmudgeon, anyway?

Matt Laurer of "Today" put it perspective, if she did use her own voice and it cracked the press would be all over her. So you are damned if you do and damned if you don't. But I agree with Martin, it was 3 minutes of a 2 day event...all in all I was watching "SpongeBob Squarepants.

Now that you mention it, a curmudgeonette could be a miniature curmudgeon. So maybe it's a curmudeoness. But you notice how actresses seem to like to be called actors lately, so maybe that's not politically correct.

It was a great vocal, even if it wasn't live, and I understand that many singers have issues with their voices in cold weather, losing their range. Our national anthem is a tough song to sing.

Who cares??? It is still her voice and it is 3 minutes of a 2 day celebration!! What I can't figure out is why the Marine Corps band went along with it (if they did--how do you lip sync a whole band?) What happened to honor? Should the leader of the band be discharged? It is all very silly and NO ONE was upset when Whitney Houston did it!

I think it was discovered when people noticed that some of the band members were not playing or were just pretending to play.
