This and That

I haven't written for so long that I am feeling guilty. But what to write about. Politics? I can't wait for this election to be over. The phone calls and surveys are never ending. I should go vote early just to stop them. The only ones we don't get are the ones for Obama or Romney. The pressure is really on Colorado and Ohio now.
My 14 year old cat has kidney disease and high blood pressure. He is getting meds for the blood pressure and to keep him from tossing his cookies and to increase his appetite. I am giving him subcutaneous fluids every day. It takes two of us, one to hold him still and one to give the injection. I am the injector. My daughter or older grandson are the holders. Enough said about that.
The colors of the turning leaves this year are the most beautiful that I can remember. Too bad it took a drought and a heat wave to get them. And now they are falling too soon. Two days of raking so far with more to follow. Young grandson loves to rake and, truth to tell, I am enjoying it too.
Younger grandson has started playing the viola. Shades of the past-he hates to practice. Is there a kid anywhere who likes to practice? I said that when I was learning the piano and daughter said it when she was learning piano, then viola, then clarinet.

Sorry about the kitty. My grand daughters love to practice. I think the
music is a relief from academics.

Grandson is now having good days and looks forward to practicing.

I always loved raking leaves. And my kids always practiced cuz they wanted to. Those that didn't want to, didn't continue with lessons.

The leaves are almost gone now. They blew away in the aftermath of Sandy. We got that wind even in IL.

So sorry about your kitty ... my tuxedo friend, Sniff, who died about 4 years ago from stomach cancer, also needed subcutaneous fluids for his kidney problem. That did well under treatment, but the other thing was insidious and we had to put him to sleep or watch him go with great pain.

My sis and I were musical anomalies as far as kids go -- we listened to the radio and were drawn to whatever classical music was played and begged to take piano lessons and fought over who got to practice first and had "it's my turn now" fights. Go figure.

It is so hard to lose our pets. I am getting too old to get another long living pet. I need an already aged pet.

When I think of something to write about, I jot it down so I won't forget. There's always something. Quite frankly, and this is not meant to be disparaging, I'm a little frustrated with the lack of posts here at mybloggers, and, the weak responses I get from mine. I've been testing the waters at other sites, but with not much luck. It takes time for "newbies" to get recognized. Sorry about you cat. I still have carpet stains from my cat with urinary problems. The only good thing about leaf raking, besides the exercise, is I can compost them, which is garden food!

I compost but there are too many leaves. I use garbage cans with holes drilled in them and roll them around to mix the composting materials.

I understand this a lot.My children took up an instrument and never practiced.
Got tired of telling them to work on it.Now they say wish that they listen to me.
Too late.We finally made a big dent in raking the leaves.
Maybe Hurricane Sandy will take care of the rest of them.

I didn't like to practice either and was sorry later. I took lessons again when I was almost 40. I hope you survived Sandy with not too much hassle.

I wish I had learned to play an instrument when I was young!!!
Poor cat--well we all get sick at one time or another!

Elections? Oh are there elections going on??? ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I come from a musical family and we are carrying on the tradition. Grandson has now decided he likes to practice. Last night he played for 90 minutes. He is very good for just starting lessons 6 weeks ago. He has a recital coming up in December with older students. He is almost 11.
