Creepy Salesman

I am having my windows replace so I have set up appointments to get estimates from different companies. My first guy came and gave me an estimate of $18,000. And, that was for 18 windows. Like charging me $1,000 a window. I called him the next day to tell him he was insane. This guy went and pulled a permit to do my windows. Hello, idiot I just said you were nuts and I didn't want your service.

Second guy came last Thursday. He was nice but he was too aggressive. He kept trying to discourage me to seek out other window contractors. In addition, he kept lowering his price. Now, he gave me an offer for $11,800 and that is reasonable for the type of my house since I have had some people said they paid close to that for the same house I have. I told him I will get back to him as it was only right to keep my appointments with the others. Then, he call the next day. I told him I will contact him on Monday. He called me again on Saturday or Sunday playing dumb by saying I sent in a request to have him do my windows. Hello idiot I didn't email you shit. Then, I called him monday and told his secretary he was too aggressive and I didn't want his business. He calls today, leaves a message in which I was listening to and says he will be in the area and will stop by. Hello asshole, I said I didn't want your business and called the office and told the secretary to give him the darn message and told her to tell him to not come to my house. She tells me to leave him a voice message and I did but I didn't trust that he get it and called back and told her she better reach him because if he shows up at my house unannounced he will be arrested. She got snotty with me and said I am going to hang up and I said fine and I will have him arrested if he comes here. I got so freaked out that I put a sign on the downstairs garage door "Beware of Dog and I am not kidding!" Pit Bull on the other side. I locked my front door and back door and kept the other Pit Bull loose in the house as well. I called my husband and told him and he then called him up and the guy bad mouthed him so my husband said leave me alone and if you show up at the house I am not responsible for my wife letting the dogs loose and will have you arrested. He told him this is why you lost the sale.

I had another guy come to check out the windows. This company was very pleasant and I was willing to pay an extra $1,000 for my windows. He also had another type of window for my dining area that I liked. I signed the contract.

My point in all this is to keep seeking until you feel comfortable with the contractors. Watch out for someone that seems pushy and desperate. And, listen to your dog..they know when they don't like someone. Reyna couldn't stand the first person. That was the $18,000 job.

I used to have people stop here asking if I wanted my driveway paved. I got tired of saying no so I started saying, sure is it free?

There are so many stories of contractors taking advantage of people after a catastrophe. It is good that you took the time to find one that you feel comfortable with.

When I call a contractor and leave a message, they never call back and if someone does answer the phone when I call they say they'll come out to the house and we never hear from them again. Glad you found one you're comfortable with.
