Wedding Photos

I don't have a lot of the right sort of pictures, should have stuck around while the official ones were being taken and gotten a few of my own.

It was a full-on Catholic mass at the cathedral on the main plaza in Laredo.

Seven bridesmaids dressed in a dark purple. Although you can't see it very well, their hair was beautifully done.

The plaza out front was busy with the annual Jamboozie festival, and part of the reception included the bride and groom riding in the parade.

Members of the wedding party walked behind carrying pinatas on sticks - that's the bride pinata in the photo above.

After the parade, the band handed out props and we had our own carnivale including dancers on stilts.

Parents of the bride dancing to a rap song.

Groom's Mother dancing to a Spanish version of Achy Breaky Heart:

People really dressed up for this thing. I'm glad I found a sparkly velvet dress.

Y-M-C-A:

The bride, her parents, and sister on the far right:

Bride's brother-in-law, nephew, and brother loaded in the van headed home on Sunday.

See that green stick? that is the handle of a big pinata that is riding shotgun all the way home - this one:

All in all, even though it wasn't lavish, it was the most satisfying wedding experience I've ever had.

You're living the high life -- how you gonna top that?

No kidding! The last wedding this particular family put on we rode across Washington DC in a sight-seeing trolley going to the reception, and I thought that was the high life, and now this. They have one more single daughter. Can't wait to see what she comes up with. (And the thing is, they don't really set out to wow us, it just comes along in the course of things.)

Perfect for them

I think he plans to run for political office sometime when he's older, so this fits right into his personality.

So glad you enjoyed it! Best wishes and congratulations to the happy couple!

I'm so glad I got to see their house and get to know them better before I flew home. It's fun being extended family at these things.

It is the most beautiful and colorful wedding that I have ever seen. It was
a melding of two cultures and everyone looked beautiful...wish you had a
picture of yourself.

Me too! I got out onto the dance floor at one point, and I could see my dress sparkling in the lights, would love to see it in a photo. I'll ask the bride to forward me a picture if anyone else happens to have gotten one.

Almost looks like a Marti-Gras Prade
comment by larryb on Feb 1, 2012 6:38 PM ()
Yes, it was like mardi gras - they even threw beads from the Jeep floats. Laredo has a month-long celebration of George Washington's birthday (don't know why they latched onto him), and the parade was part of it.
