Walking Along the Road

I slept in this morning, something I've not been able to do for the past six weeks. For weeks after the flood, a hour or two was all the sleep I could get, and when it was longer, I was still waking up at 3 a.m. every morning, and couldn't get back to sleep.

When I finally got going, I decided to walk up to the trash pile on the highway with an old piece of carpet, and just as I got to my gate, here came a white pickup, and it was my friend Bridget and her drunken husband, returning from a trash run to town. It was a huge coincidence, and I can't think of anyone I'd rather have met up with, unless it was one of you.

This afternoon I swapped my two vehicles around to get them both into the garage for the winter. We've stored stuff in one side for years, so this was a big deal. It's a tight fit for the car, but I got it in there without scratching the paint.

Now that I've gotten them in there, we'll probably keep it that way when summer comes.

I worry about you and the kitty there all alone. And stay warm!

Well, the kitty is in Las Vegas making life miserable for the other cat that lives there all the time. I know if I was there, she would be more tolerant of him, poor Chitty. I am going there for a short visit at some point, and have been trying to decide if I should bring Miss Eloise back with me, because then Chitty would have a home for the winter, and I'd have some company here. The only reason to not bring her is if there was going to be some kind of danger to her here, and I don't think there would be.

I hope "drunken husband" isn't a problem for her. It is my dream to get our car into our garage. Ed did acquire a riding mower and shifted some things around to get it in. Amazing.

It really is something how all that stuff can be shifted around when we are motivated to get one more thing into the garage.

"When summer comes..." It will!

I was outside this afternoon composting the plants in my vegetable garden, thinking how I can't bear to face this coming winter with all the uncertainty and stress. My summer was cut short by the flood, and I feel cheated. Spring will be a new beginning.

I am so glad you had a good sleep. It is restorative and it was fun to meet
up with Bridget and spouse.

I enjoyed staying in that motel, and not the least was the good mattress. I'm sorry I wasn't sleeping better while I was there to really get the full satisfaction out of it. But it's good to be home.
