Here is an item from my local Colorado paper:
"The sixth annual Tuba Christmas will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday on Oak Street Plaza, 148 W. Oak St., Fort Collins.
The concert is free and open to the public. The 80 performers will be directed by Loveland Mayor Cecil Gutierrez and will perform traditional Christmas carols.
For more information, call (970) 663-6319 or visit www.tubachristmas.com"
Here's a YouTube clip from Kansas City in 2009. I like it because there are 'parts.'
I would love to see my local performance, just to see all those tuba players in one place. The tuba is such an under-appreciated instrument.
It reminds me of the song: When Yuba Plays the Rhumba on the Tuba Down in Cuba:
There is another event in my home area that I would love to see: the annual riding lawn mower Christmas parade.
Here is a clip from YouTube, not that particular one, but you get the idea.
To me, events like this are what life in America is all about.
