Summer Comes to the Big Thompson

Yesterday at 5 p.m. Mr. Troutbend and Buddy the Interstate Cat drove into the garage here in Colorado, the end of a long 13 hour drive from Las Vegas. They brought summer with them. It's warm, it's sunny. The level of the river has gone down to normal, and everyone is happy.

He declined on the hummingbirds, but has accepted the job of patrolling for mice during the night. Hasn't caught any yet, but ever vigilant.

Instead of riding on the floor of the car and eating every so often on the car trip, he found a spot on the back seat for most of the ride, and didn't eat at all. We worry about him getting dehydrated when he does that, but by this morning he was like you say, tip-top and ready for wildlife viewing.

Yep, that's our Buddy. He seems happy to be here except he can't go outside like he gets to in Las Vegas.

I savored every moment of that vacation. Yesterday before they got here I was telling myself 'enjoy this little moment, not many left.' As if things are a whole lot more hectic when they are here, which they're not.
