This Oughta Be Good

Spring Runoff

70 plus degree days, 45 degree nights: the big snowpack has finally started to melt. The river went up overnight, twice what it was yesterday. It will get a lot higher over the next few weeks, but it's good to see it starting.

A year ago, we couldn't see the river from this angle because of the trees along the riverbank that were lost in the flood. That tree leaning over still has roots in the dirt and will probably live a long time leaning over like that.

One of the ladies who lost her house in the flood sent me some wildflower seeds that she'd bought for her yard that isn't there any more.

I planted them on the bank outside my dining room, where we can see them every day.

Doesn't look like much now - we spread topsoil and mulch with native grass seed and the wildflowers, and will water it every day.

Let's hope the river does not rise too high. There was a great amount of snow this year!

I suppose I should go look at the red cabin, which is the most vulnerable to high water in the river - move the soft goods up higher - just in case.

Lovely pictures per usual!

Because we lost a bunch of trees from the riverbank, now we can sit inside the house and see the river coming around the bend as in the picture.

It's still beautiful ... post pix when your flowers come up.

Oh, pictures for sure. I was debating planting some vegetables out in that newly sunny area. Hugs to you.

There is anxiety mixed with the beauty of having the river in your back
yard.

I am looking forward to the end of the runoff - there's no fast forward with nature, just have to wait it out.

Now I am just hoping the river doesn't rise too high!!!

People whose part of the river was drastically changed by the flood are worried, even though a lot of repair work has been done, but our channel didn't change, so we should be okay. The exciting thing is that if it does rise too high, I won't be here by myself.
