Robo Calls

It is so typical of politicians to insure that calls regarding their interests would not fall under the Do Not Call list restrictions.

I'm sure every state has robo calls, those telemarketing recorded messages about why one candidate sucks and another one is much better.

On the news here in Las Vegas: last night at midnight phones started ringing. There was a computer/human error at the robo call company in another state that caused calls scheduled for Monday afternoon to go out Monday at 12:01 a.m. You can imagine how that has gone over. People are really irritated. Then, the robo company put out another call to apologize for that call. Oh, please, just leave us alone!

Have you been receiving all those campaign ads in the mail? Every day there are more of them, and every day they get bigger. On the news tonight we were told that we can stop those mailings by sending a form to the Clark County Election Commission requesting our name be removed from the mailing lists. Oh really. I'll believe that when I see it. I'm going to see if my other county has a similar provision.

This is the cyclamen in our yard. It dies back every summer and returns in the fall to bloom all winter.

Around here during 'election time', the (local) candidates canvas us on the 'doorstep' - now that, can get annoying!

And if I gave money to all the "causes" that request it, from both telephone and internet (whew!), I'd be flat broke. I've become such a rude fellow!

I hate them but have only had calls for the Democratic Gov's race and I
will vote for her anyway. After the Republicans sent me a very derogatory
survey form to fill out they don't bother me anymore since I told them
in no uncertain terms to leave me alone.

I do not like those calls. I am glad I don't have a home phone anymore!

I'm sure they are staying up late trying to figure out how to reach out to all the cell phones.

My listed number is the phone that is my DSL connection, and I never answer it. My cell is now over 5 years old and I am looking at a new one. I have Verizon so I may wait until they get the 4G iPhone in 2011. Politics sickens me. I don't want to even speculate about the outcome of this one, but I am afraid for the country.

Yes, I'm worried, too. There are poorly-thought out ballot questions in Colorado that I'm afraid the ignorant voters will approve just to send a message to Washington.

If my caller ID shows an 800 no., I don't even answer. If they don't leave a message, it confirms that it was a solicitation call. When I do get one, those that blether about family values infuriate me and I am only sorry I am not connecting with a live person to swear at in graphic terms.

Your flowers are lovely. We are moving into winter mode here -- less growth, but we'll stay green if we keep watering.

Last summer I kept ignoring "California Call" when it showed on the caller ID, turned out it was my cousin in the nursing home, so I try to be more careful, but if she's calling this month, I'm not answering.

We don't have those here and I'm glad because that sounds super annoying.Actually, on the news the other night they were reporting on American campaign ads...we don't rip candidates down as much.

Lucky you with plants still blooming.

Here in Las Vegas, where frost is rare, it's like spring all over again. I am going to post some pictures of the sage bushes in bloom.

Pretty cyclamen. Today I noticed DD#2's rose bush is still blooming. I thought it was too cold for that but it is sheltered by her house.

Roses are amazingly hardy. Ours suffer a lot from the drought and heat. I have to figure out if this is the time of year to prune off the dead parts.

Robo calls are driving me nuts. One week to go!

It will be a relief, won't it? I thought of you today, trying to make a latte with enough foam to draw a heart in like your avatar.
