I look at the airport camera in Loveland, Colorado that is pointed up towards my house.

Sometimes the camera will show the front range to be all socked in, but the skies will be cloudless and blue at my house because the low-lying clouds get trapped by the foothills below us, but there is no way to know that from 700 miles away.
I also look at the local weather forecast, which covers a large area, and is quite often not accurate for conditions there at the home place.
I can look at the road conditions near there via a camera pointed at the highway. Often, that camera isn't working.
And I can look at the level of the river in front of my house.

It's not as good as being there to see it for myself (this is the high water you see on the graph), but it's better than nothing. Of all the indicators available to me, it is the most accurate.

I wish my new generator was online so I could monitor its status.

I am going to do research to see about setting up a web app for it, but I don't have great hopes of success.
But even more, I wish the fox was online.

Next summer we are going to set up a motion-activated beaver camera so we can see them working on their dams. Or maybe we'll just set up the doorbell to ring when they are out there so we can run out and see them.
