Red Cabin Project Update: End of March

Time is screaming by, we are well into spring, but I hope we get some more snow because we need the moisture.

This is a rare four-coned cluster of pinecones, similar to a four-leafed clover.

The back of the red cabin that was covered by the 1937 addition. No sign of paint on the logs, so the house must have been this color for 27 years.

Where the addition was:

The inside of a big log that was supporting the house and has almost entirely rotted away. The cylinder on the top is a core of the log, with knotholes attaching it to the outer part of the log.

Salvaged exterior logs that aren't rotten:

I'm keeping an eye on you--take care of MY cabin!

Your interest in that cabin is one of my biggest motivators. I'm thinking of printing out a picture of you with your red convertible and nailing it inside one of the new walls so it will always have a little bit of Great Martin's spirit in it.

Always so busy up there! And really, you want more snow????

We didn't get nearly as much snow as they did back east this winter, and as early as it is in the year, it's starting to look scary for wildfire danger.

Quite a project. Looks like you haven't had a break from work since before the flood.

It definitely has turned our lives around. I'm trying to get this cabin project done before the floodplain maps change and major road construction starts on the highway because the traffic delays will add to the time it takes for tradesmen to get here. Also, the county has a building permit discount that expires in September of this year. But the speed of this project is a little bit scary.

I can't wait to see the new construction. I hope you decide on a
deck because being outside is part of a Colorado vacation.

There will for sure be a deck, although maybe not right away because of finances.
