Pink

I made this embroidery many years ago. It matches the wallpaper in one of the bedrooms.

With a name like Eloise, and her sweet personality, a pink room seems just right for her.

She escaped twice, and I think she spent a lot of time under the house next door looking for mice. The second time she came running home and her fur was all warm as if she'd been lying in the sun. I don't think the fox would bother her, but I'm afraid she'd go far afield and the bobcat or pine marten would eat her.

I think there were birds in the tree outside the window that she was watching that day. Usually she curls up next to the pillows.

When she's not in the pink, she's under the bed in the other bedroom. Although I've never seen her in the closet, she always opens one of its doors, maybe just because she can.

That bed was new in the 1920s, and they used to make notched bedspreads to fit with that type of footboard.
