Open Water

I was thinking that the river is opening up sooner this spring, but then I looked at pictures I took a year ago, and it's hard to tell them apart.

I haven't seen the pieces break off, they seem to disappear quickly, not hang around.

The best part of it is the sound - it's completely silent where there is ice, but the water is bubbling and singing in the open areas.

I hope next winter is a lot colder and the ice is thicker. I think that's better for the fish.

I'm horrible about keeping track of those dates. Last year it seemed like the warmer weather was two weeks earlier than usual, but this year it's running on last year's schedule, so now it's becoming the new normal.

One good thing about the drought is there are some invasive weeds that were set back some last summer, and will be further set back this summer.
