One, Two, Three

First I saw two hen wild turkeys. They ate the berries off the bush and hiked up the mountain out back.

Then, only one was coming around and I was afraid the other one was eaten. Today I tossed some popcorn out there to see if she'd eat it, and she did.

I brought the cat down to see the bird, and she was indifferent: invisible turkey. In this picture she's not watching that turkey. It went next door and she moved to the front window, but had her eye on the rabbit over there rather than that turkey, which as joined by another turkey. So we were back to two.

When I took the trash bin up to the road I saw three turkeys. They saw me coming and hustled up the road toward the highway. By the time I got up there, they were nowhere in sight. I hope they didn't risk crossing the road.

A couple hours later, I looked out back and one of them was back, digging through a flower pot.

When she saw me, she marched across the snow.

We've never had wild turkeys spend so much time here before. The only downside is they poop everywhere and the whole property is a mine field.

All we have is a neighbour's cat, I call Ginger Puss. Angel hates that kitty with a passion, hissing and growling whenever Ginger Puss is within sight.

We had a huge flock at the farm but I think the hunters and the
wild animals got most of them. I think you may have little ones
nearby.

we have the same bird poop problem here in the parks with the geese. how much snow did y'all get this last time? we got about 5 " here in Cow Snot. I guess everyone heard about the big pileup on I 80 between here and Laramie. We made the national news. I was smart enough to avoid the interstate that day by driving through town to do my errands.

yer hopefully that will be the end of it pal

Pooping--that's a bird's job--I had 21 of them in my apartment!!

They aren't desirable in any way around here. Even the hunters who purposely hunt them only eat the breast and sell the feathers. They fly high enough to hit a windshield and that can be disastrous. My buddy lost a side-view mirror to a similar missile. Donna hit one years ago and it was stuck in the grill: still alive to some degree. She pulled into a gas station and the guy removed it for her.

Poop! Boo. But otherwise kinda cool. We have them wandering in our yard from time to time as well....
