This Oughta Be Good

Life & Events > Oh, Shoot

Oh, Shoot

Well, a couple days ago, things were looking pretty good. I'd lined up a contractor to work on fixing my road, and the power company had installed new utility poles on my property.

But then, the contractor pointed out that my driveway is undermined badly, and he can't take his equipment down there until it's fixed, and if we start getting a lot of moisture, the whole thing could crumble away. And it does look pretty bad. Well, I've already got one pickup trapped down there, so I'm not losing this one, too, so am parking up on the highway when I go there.

Different people from the power company need to come back and string wires on those new poles, but no sign of them. The town is trying to get power to another area that has more people, so I'm low on the list. This prolongs my stay in town.

The progress on the highway continues - all the washouts down to my place are fixed already. They are working their way to where it's really damaged, where you can't tell there ever was a highway.

The goal is to have the main highway to Loveland (and the rest of the world) by December 1 of this year, a huge job.

So sorry for all the missteps ... hang in and I'm praying for you. If there is a God, He won't mind that I am an agnostic, since He's supposed to love everybody. I'm thinking every good wish helps.

Kinda like getting the kitchen renovated.

Yes, if the kitchen was 600 feet long by 10 feet wide and it was going to cost $280,000.

I will be glad when you can winterize the cabin and join Gary. Winter is
rearing it's snowy head.

The weather has been so nice, I was forgetting that it's time for cold weather. We were so fortunate that the giant snowstorm that hit Wyoming and South Dakota missed us.

Another reason to appeal that FEMA amount....
Hang in there, sweetie....

FEMA-speak is something I don't wish on anyone.

It's starting to look like I need to go there pretty soon. I'll have to find someone here to check on my place, and let me know when the power comes on. Tomorrow I'm going to buy padlocks for the doors that I can't shut enough for the locks to work.

It always takes longer than one expects or one is promised! Hang in there or go to Vegas for a couple of days!

Too far to go for a couple of days - it takes a couple of days to go what should be the 20 miles to Loveland. If I was going to get away, I'd go there.
