The Neighbors Went Home

A large family group just left our Brown Palace rental cabin after three nights. The grandparents brought their fifth wheel trailer and parked it over by our other cabin. There was a perfect spot for it, and they ran an extension cord and hose from the cabin.

It was a good spot for that trailer, but we learned some things. For one, having a trailer there makes the little rental cabin a lot less private, and it really tore up the grass.

Also, it would take a good driver to back that trailer into the spot without hitting certain features of our landscaping. Once it's in there, though it's perfect - nice and shady, all the comforts of home.

Some of the family slept over there, and the kids and teenagers and parents and dogs were next door at our Brown Palace. This is the second time they've stayed with us, and they really cleaned the place up before leaving, even made the beds.

I'm always a little bit sad to see people go home because it was fun having neighbors, but that's part of the charm of it - they go home before we get tired of them.

fyi i see your page today as deep blue green (teal), black type. Thanks for fix tip but I can't find history on any screen. I'll have to wait for Ed to help me when he gets back. What a nuisance.

After reading your answer to my comment SEND THEM HERE--they can clean my whole place if they want to!!!

I agree with "Great" -- you have to strip the bed, so making it is unnecessary. We used to have more visitors -- but these have dwindled due to life circumstances. Hope the damage from the 5th wheel can be easily repaired.

They stripped them and made them up fresh. This left me more time to really scrub the kitchen floor.

How nice for the family to vacation together. Dogs and all!

They really did have a nice time. Weekend after next is another one of those multi-generational family weekends including dogs, although not so many people.

That's what we call a fifth wheeler , on turntable like semi trailers .
we visit when we travel ,but don't stay overlong , though last trip out we house sat , while owners went into the city for a few days.

I wish I'd asked them to show me the inside.

I guess it's like being grandparents: you get to enjoy the kids, but then they go home with the parents and you can relax.

That's a good way to sum it up. Most of our guests have stayed here several times before, so it's a lot like they're our family coming and going. We don't have a lot of rules (check in/out times, deposits, ect.), so for them, I think it's more like staying with family (assuming your family would charge you by the night).

Same thing happened with the bed at the motel. I suppose some people are just neat. It did make for easier removal when the blanket and spread were mixed in the sheets.

Some people bring sleeping bags, put them on the bedspread, and never get between the sheets, but I never take a chance, I always wash all the sheets anyway.

"even made the beds." That I have never understood--don't they know you are going to strip the bed and change the linen?? I always (well when I use to visit people) always stripped the bed and left everything, including towels I used, in a pile at the foot of the bed. I am such a good guest!!

I have a little check list for them when they're leaving, including strip off the sheets, but don't wash them, and just about everyone does that. But this bunch stripped the beds, washed the sheets, and meanwhile put on clean sheets out of the linen closet, and oh by the way, tidied up the linen closet.
