That was an odd time in our history. It's hard to believe it could happen, but it did.
Thank goodness you have that generator. I saw a weather.com report today that your part of the country (the southern tier) is supposed to be colder than usual this winter, and the part I'm in will be warmer. We'll see how it goes.
I'm so sorry, Teal. It wouldn't be so bad if they were honest about it; it's the saying they'll do something and then they forget all about it that hurts.
I was picturing yoga done to Stars and Stripes Forever.
I remember one of your posts many years ago when you wrote about how now that you were 80, you were going to do things you'd always wanted to, something like making shop people treat you better.
Nothing wrong with having a favorite TV show. A friend of mine recently died from mixing drugs and alcohol, and the reason I KNOW it wasn't intentional suicide is there is another season of Downton Abbey yet to come. And then there's always re-runs and Netflix to keep those shows alive. (alive - Zombies, get it? )
When I've taken art classes, we set out to all do the same thing, and mine always ends up totally different. For example, my version of the above picture might involve purple flowers. It's not intentional, happens when I listen to my inner muse. Do art teachers hate that kind of thing?
If you paint it dull pea soup green with vague touches of brown transparent stain (or maybe that's dirt) to make it look a little bit antique-y, it will match a cute old armoire that I have stored in my garage waiting for the red cabin to be rebuilt. And folks would probably try to tell me mine's not an armoire.
I read one of the books and then started watching the movies. I can't remember if I've seen two or three of them: they blur together for me because I don't follow the story very closely to keep track of the chronology. But I liked them more than I thought I would.
Bubba still working for the snack food company? I fantasize about having a chips person in the family - bountiful buffets of all sorts of chips and more chips.
Around here, we call that Ornamental Kale, and people plant it in flowerbeds as a summer annual. I don't know if they eat it, but I don't know why you couldn't if you got a sudden craving for kale.
It does sound depressing, but based on your recommendation, if I ever get a chance, I'll watch it.
I am considering the concept of pot roast cooked turkey breast. Googled it, 2.7 million hits, sure enough, it's what it sounds like - the sort of vegetables that go into pot roast cooked with turkey instead of beef, but I'll bet the simmer time is shorter because turkey would dry out faster.
I'm trained to think 'Martin' whenever I see carrot cake. I have not embarked on a mission to try every one of them in order to decide on the best one. I can't remember if they have it in England, I'll ask my cousins.
It's a big problem around here, too. We were guaranteed health insurance, in fact will be fined if we don't have it, but as good as that looks on paper, it doesn't mean the system works when it's time to get medical care.
