Martin's Plan B

We still have a red cabin that could be Martin's. It was built in 1925, doesn't have utilities, but is still charming.

The name is Jazz Mamma (with two Ms). There was a twin cabin across the yard called Jazz Pappa. I'm guessing on the two Ps because it was washed away 45 years ago.

There is also this shed, which will stay red. It is built around a giant boulder, and that's what keeps it from washing away in the floods. They've tried to move it, but it stayed. It used to be called Tar Baby.

I love all these cabins. I hope you get lots of renters (and they behave).

I will be so glad when that new cabin is completed. One good thing about when they were not working on it for a couple of months was they weren't doing things that I didn't like or didn't ask for. Yesterday was one of those crisis days. It'd be comical if it wasn't so irritating.

I forgot about Jazz Mamma. It has the same flavor.

Yes, I'm grateful that it is located high above where the flood waters can reach it. It's a solidly-built structure and cuter than a bug's ear. My dream is to hang icicle lights on it and take a Christmas card picture of them lighted up during a snow storm. There's several elements to accomplishing that - it'd be easier to do us Photoshop.

Are All your cabins available for renters?

Not that one pictured here. My mother was going to use it for a sewing house and she left a lot of fabric, which I was trying to put a dent in by making quilts, but not succeeding; it's still chock full. The new one we're building will be a year-round rental, and the one across the yard from us is for rent in the summer.

Put up an outhouse and we will discuss it BUT it is easier just to paint the door red and new one!!

There are some people whose last name is McBride, and it was her grandma's cabin before my family bought it, and I never heard of them until after the flood they sent me an email and said they'd visited it when here from California. I feel like I owe them something to evoke that old cabin that isn't any more, but it wasn't red when their family owned it, so maybe it's not about color for them, but maybe a red door is as good as anything.
