A couple of years ago we had the nicest summer here. It didn't get too hot, and we had rain at the right times. The wildflowers were beautiful, and I felt if I died that winter, I would be content knowing we'd had such a lovely season.

The past month and a half has been almost as memorable, warm and lovely, with nice leaf color. The nights are a little chillier than they were a couple of weeks ago, but not near freezing, and the days are wonderful and warm.



These bits of color, dotted between the evergreens are like hidden treasure come to light.

The only downside is that we could use some rain. There is a slight chance of snow next Wednesday, and I'm very hopeful.
